October 24, 20214 yr Popular Post I kinda inherited this. The club member whose shop we have been cleaning out built this and one for a friend (twice this size). So last thing to haul off and I am going to try it out. The friend he built the larger one for showed me some 2x2 blanks he dried from soaking wet and not a crack. It has holes drilled top and bottom and a incandescent bulb for heat. Uses a computer fan to circulate air. The thermostat is set to low of 90 and high of 100 but as I set this up noticed the thermostat is in Celsius so go to internet and get 32.22 to 37.78 ok I used 32 to 38. Will test this in November when I get back from the Lake.
October 24, 20214 yr I’ve seen people build the larger ones out of plywood and styrofoam but that is a really cool idea. Ready made and simple. I wonder if you could adapt that concept to a chest freezer for small batches of lumber ? Paul
October 24, 20214 yr There are bunches of the chest freezers on CL for cheap. Thanks for the post Gerald ! Now if I only had room for one. Paul

Not sure on this as I did not ask Sammy, but I think less than 2 weeks. 35 minutes ago, Masonsailor said: I’ve seen people build the larger ones out of plywood and styrofoam but that is a really cool idea. Woodturners do not usually think in larger terms of dimensional lumber but I have seen some larger than a regular refrigerator. Just need (I think) top and very low bottom or side holes.
October 24, 20214 yr The little one I made, from Rick Turns video using the same hardware, dries a rough turned blank that has been soaking in soap and water for several days in about 10 days. Haven’t lost a blank, yet.
