10" Pecan Salad Bowl

Featured Replies

Twice turned pecan bowl.  About 3/16" thick and very light in the hand.  Not sure what's going on with individual piece of wood but it turned differently than other pieces from the same tree.  Tough, stringy, and hard to cut.  Tear out if you look at it sideways.

Finished with Acks.

Beautiful!  The grain is nice too.

Awesome! Wonderful grain patterns in this piece!

Did you use your vacuum chuck to finish the bottom?

  • Author

Yes.  I used the vChuck.  I really like the way it works...quick and easy.  Haven't touched LW or Cole since.

Yes that is some nice grain in this one. Once you use a vacuum you will not go back.

Might've been a tough one but it sure looks like it was worth it. Agree with Gerald about using a vacuum chuck. One of the best accessories a bowl turner can I think.

Some really nice work! Someday, maybe........well, maybe not; i might be kidding myself. You are quite the turner!
