Didn't like what was left of the grooves and beveled edges..so..:OldManSmiley:

About two trips around the block, can always add a bevel, if need be..:ChinScratch:

Panel came out of the clamps..needed a light leveling ..we have ways...

seems one of the 2 parts was a bit thicker than the other one:BangingHead:..hmmm, getting better..

Had to barely skim the ends..to get them squared up...test fit?:ChinScratch:

Added a better bevel around the top edges of the box...ones that fit this lid a bit better.   Found some better hinges, too:TwoThumbsUp:

Corners of the lid...:ChinScratch:

Going with a small miter cut....circled one needs trimmed a bit...big circle area was NOT flat....we have ways for that..:MachineGun:

Even sits flat on the top of the box.   Will try to stain the beads a bit darker....so they stand out better....need to go shopping for a better latch, too..:ChinScratch:

Dungeon Shop tries to be "Mistake Free".....as mistakes usually go into the Fire Pit.   :DevilLaughing:

Again, work sessions are controlled by how the knee feels, when it says time to quit for the day...shop gets shut down.

Called a Baker's Cyst....waiting to see how rehab does with it...:(

Well...I do know the lid is as flat as I can plane it,,,and as smooth as I can get it....however...WHY does the lid still rock.....almost like corners at the diagonals are different, doesn't matter which face is up.....still rocks the same...hmmmmm :WonderScratch:

We have ways..
635740676_ThinLidboxneededflattened.JPG.1cb232780a9457ecd7c92fb92d0fd652.JPG

Seems this corner and the one diagonally across from it were a tad bit too high....planed them until the lid no longer rocked.....Then got a start of hinge install...:OldManSmiley:

Scratch Awl for the 2 pilot holes.   Each of those lines is from a chisel, being struck twice.   I don't NEED a lot of depth.   Then a chisel to remove the waste..and then add a hinge..:ChinScratch:

893679290_ThinLidfirsthingeinstalled.JPG.1615e270f3e56c37e05bee6a4d2ad6ce.JPG

That be THE smallest Phillips screwdriver I had in the shop, at the time....Then see how much hinge will show, once the lid is on..

And that will be all you'll see.   B)

Need to find a few more wooden knobs...

Also...next time IN the shop...:WonderScratch:

Good luck, Bandit.

I like the new lid much better.  It did look morbid before.  Again, you gave me some ideas as I am planning to build one similar for DIL for Christmas.  Thanks for the Work In Progress.

Don't you mean "plane?"  ;)

As always Bandit great use of available material. Cool, unique and challenge for those corners. Very creative.

Thanks for another great build-a-long. I vote to add it to your gallery.
