kmealy Posted September 30, 2021 Report Posted September 30, 2021 I have some T-tracks on my work table and drill press table. They work fine with my MatchFit clamps. But I'm wondering about hold downs like these, I think I can probably just saw out some from some scrap wood and they would work just as well. Has anyone ever tried that? I, of course, would look for some scrap where the wood grain would follow that sort of curve. lew, Gunny, FlGatorwood and 1 other 4 Quote
Popular Post Fred W. Hargis Jr Posted September 30, 2021 Popular Post Report Posted September 30, 2021 The shop built versions work just fine. Here are the ones I built some years ago, I have 2 in each size. lew, Gerald, Gunny and 3 others 6 Quote
Popular Post kmealy Posted September 30, 2021 Author Popular Post Report Posted September 30, 2021 I like the pivoting dowel. Clever. Cal, lew, FlGatorwood and 2 others 4 1 Quote
lew Posted September 30, 2021 Report Posted September 30, 2021 I made some similar to Fred's but without the dowels. I think the dowel ones would be easier to position. https://www.woodsmith.com/article/shop-made-hold-down/ Gunny, Fred W. Hargis Jr, Cal and 1 other 4 Quote
kmealy Posted October 4, 2021 Author Report Posted October 4, 2021 Dang. When I first looked at Rockler, they were $15 each. Then they went on sale for $12.99. Now, they're $10. Decisions, decisions. lew, Gunny and Fred W. Hargis Jr 3 Quote

kmealy Posted October 4, 2021 Author Report Posted October 4, 2021 Well, puttering in the shop today and wondered if I could use these gizmos as just stop/positioning blocks. I had them anyway from when I bought the t-track. So I made some maple blocks from scrap. We'll see how they work. I'd hoped the end would work in the Matchfit dovetailed dados, but drat, it was about 1/16" too small. Fred W. Hargis Jr, FlGatorwood and lew 3 Quote
