September 30, 20214 yr I have some T-tracks on my work table and drill press table. They work fine with my MatchFit clamps. But I'm wondering about hold downs like these, I think I can probably just saw out some from some scrap wood and they would work just as well. Has anyone ever tried that? I, of course, would look for some scrap where the wood grain would follow that sort of curve.
September 30, 20214 yr Popular Post The shop built versions work just fine. Here are the ones I built some years ago, I have 2 in each size.
September 30, 20214 yr I made some similar to Fred's but without the dowels. I think the dowel ones would be easier to position. https://www.woodsmith.com/article/shop-made-hold-down/
October 4, 20214 yr Author Dang. When I first looked at Rockler, they were $15 each. Then they went on sale for $12.99. Now, they're $10. Decisions, decisions.

October 4, 20214 yr Author Well, puttering in the shop today and wondered if I could use these gizmos as just stop/positioning blocks. I had them anyway from when I bought the t-track. So I made some maple blocks from scrap. We'll see how they work. I'd hoped the end would work in the Matchfit dovetailed dados, but drat, it was about 1/16" too small.
