Popular Post FlGatorwood Posted September 28, 2021 Popular Post Report Posted September 28, 2021 Took the dented Toyota van to the repair shop for pictures and estimate. Will get some more work done in the same area to remove rock dinks and a couple of scratches. Will make the other headlight look new so it will look good when I get it back. It has only 81K miles. Not even broke in yet. Wife had a duplicate prescription with different strengths. Picked up one prescription yesterday and the pharmacist asked about it. I admitted confusion. Called the doctor today to clarify. Received clarification and called pharmacy to cancel one. Mowed part of back yard until the battery ran out. Worked on steamy locomotive. Did a couple loads of laundry. Tired now. Is it bedtime yet? HARO50, Larry Buskirk, Gerald and 8 others 11 Quote

There’s a small enclosed front porch area that the guy hangs out in. He wants a custom exterior 36” bifold door. Think oak closet door that opens in (right to left),folds in half but has a pair of bolts to keep it flat when it is closed. He also wants a beveled glass 40” long insulated pane in the left side. I think I’m going to decline the job. Too many headaches. Oh yeah, the existing frame isn’t square. A wise choice, I'd say. steven newman, DuckSoup, Gunny and 4 others 7 Quote

Popular Post Cal Posted September 28, 2021 Popular Post Report Posted September 28, 2021 Boy did I get a learning weekend & Monday. "Nephew" brought down his Toyota camper from Marietta on Saturday AM. He had been telling me that he had bought this rig because it was a good solid start for his project. He had gutted it and asked if I would help him redo the inside and build new cabinets and such. I almost think he wanted to go there over the weekend... He pulled in with it and it was literally being held together by bungee cords and tie down straps I may have exaggerated a little bit. The main box was sound, but that cab over area was, in fact, just strapped together. And, he had paid some guy with experience at a camper dealer to help him. I think the guy got it tore apart and then left for a couple weeks... So we spent the weekend putting in some new roof bracing, back to front, reflooring, patching the roof and securing that cab over area. I will never look at these camper rigs the same way again! When new, this thing was held together by duct tape, staples and silicon caulk. And all of the framing up is 1x1's!!! We did manage to get the cab over secured by Monday afternoon and off he went. He will be back... After the nephew left the Mrs. and I loaded up my truck with stuff to carry to an auction. Will be delivering it this morning. Gunny, forty_caliber, Gerald and 7 others 10 Quote
Popular Post AndrewB Posted September 28, 2021 Popular Post Report Posted September 28, 2021 GOOD MORNING sorry I've been moderately afk from the forums just been handling things with PTSD and other such nonsense also taking some me time and been very heavily computer gaming sort of taking a moderate break from turning. I've got a lot on my plate at the moment but I will still be around here this site is a great place to be and share work and knowledge. As far as the stuff on my plate I've taken on to make 4 bowls. I was going to laminate poplar but I decided that that wouldn't have worked too well for what I want to do because of possible gaps in the lamination. So I've almost got 2 bowls completely made and I've got another 2 to go. I'm thinking about elm and purple heart for the next one. I am planning on getting a CBN wheel for my grinder and a couple of other things as well so I can sharpen the bowl gouge. I think I messed up the angle of it a bit. How ever I will learn how to sharpen properly hopefully. I've got a bunch of sanding to do over the next couple of days and staining. Gerald, steven newman, FlGatorwood and 6 others 8 1 Quote

Popular Post steven newman Posted September 30, 2021 Popular Post Report Posted September 30, 2021 App. to see the Vein Specialist is for 7 OCT. Up in Lima, OH. Really not needing a cane to walk as the knee is better (just sore), lower back has calmed down a bit, only acting up on the left side at belt level. LOTS of heat to get things to just relax back there. Will see how Thursday goes. Uncle Charles was trying (very) to pay a visit.....walking that off was..fun. Have a bunch of Rusty & Krusty stuff to rehab next time IN the shop. Even a Mitre Box needs a clean up...despite only costing me a Dollar bill....kind of fancy label on it, though... A better look at the logo? Patent date is from 1961....back when I was about 8 yrs old...a saw did come with this...needs cleaned up. price tag said $2...wound up paying 1/2 that. Popular Post DAB Posted September 30, 2021 Popular Post Report Posted September 30, 2021 the plywood wasn't flat when i got it, but several hours of gluing and being flattened against my workbench with clamps, cauls, and screwed down (at the later cut out locations) made it more better. steven newman, FlGatorwood, Cal and 2 others 5 Quote
