Used a pin nailer and Liquid nails at each stud. we didn't cut the boards to match the stud spacing. We sorted them as to thickness and width and, made two piles. One at 5" wide and one at 3". Then, we just put them up as they came off the piles. Where the ends didn't hit a stud, we inserted a glued and nailed backer. The boards ranged in thickness from about 5/8 to 3/4. We figured we have about 80 or so man/woman hours from pallets to wall. We both spent long hours deconstructing the pallets and, Phyl did nearly 90% of the nailing. I just handed her supplies. She didn't want me on the ladders. Lotta work but, darned cheap! My mom would say "It's different. Phyl says it's interesting, I say it's DONE! And, Home Depot can keep their overpriced plywood! I knew we were doing cheap! We did go through 4 tubes of Liquid Nails and over 2000 nails. One thing for sure, it ain't falling off.
August 6, 20214 yr Popular Post Gene, you've been watching HGTV because this is what some of them do to bedroom walls, bathroom and kitchen walls. I like it. Cool job.

August 6, 20214 yr Author Popular Post Spent a lot of yesterday cleaning errant Liquid Nails off the tools and planning what, where and, when to hang shelves, cabinets and a plethora of clamps. Most of the clamps will hang from lengths of 3/4 EMT. While scavenging for the pallets, we also picked up two heavy duty lidded shipping boxes, about 2' X 5' x 18" deep. All 3 /4 pine material. Hung vertically, with shelving inside, those will become the first cabinets to be hung. Figured to hang them about 18" apart with connecting open shelves between them. Been You Tube looking at French cleat systems. Not sure about that, yet. At any rate, there's quite a few cabinets, uppers and lowers, to be built. At some point...when the scrap stuff gets used up...I'm gonna have to break down and actually buy (shudder) some sheet goods. Might as well get BB. The price difference isn't that much. Won't be getting it at HD, though.

August 6, 20214 yr Popular Post If I had have put those boards on my shop walls all the stuff that is using the walls for display would be in card board boxes under and around the work areas. But hey thats where most of my tools are now! With in the last two weeks two places got sold on the east side of us and both ended up with decks the sizes of landing fields and were covered with the fancy wood that ain't wood so each night we been dumpster diving for the cut off ends from both places and now we got enough of that fancy stuff to cover all my trailers floors. I had already covered a single axle trailer floor with the stuff we used from the go-cart track and mini golf uses.
August 6, 20214 yr Popular Post Really like how this turned out. Kind of reminds me of a barn. I would be very comfortable working in there. .40
August 7, 20214 yr Author Popular Post We put part of the wall to work. Used 3/4" EMT for the pipe clamps (6) and the two bunches of F style. The ones on the right are hung on 1/2" . Got the vac hose off the floor and hung the roller stands on purchased hangers meant for sledges.
