The first "retirement" was in 2004 when I retired from the National Guard, but I wasn't fully retired, just transferred to the retired reserve where I could have been recalled to service. The second "retirement" was two years ago, I was fully retired from the military, retirement pay started and I could no longer be recalled to service. Last Thursday was my official retirement as far as SS is concerned. The boss took the whole crew to lunch and gave me a card (signed by the crew) and a bonus check. Now I can relax and work on projects of my choosing I am still setting up at the local farmers market, selling my scrollsaw items. So I doubt that I will be bored, so many ideas, so little time .
