July 4, 20214 yr Popular Post Well? Start out with a small roll-around tool chest. . Bottom compartment was missing it's shelves....Can always add some, IF needed.. Top chest did have a few "treasures" in it.. 1 good wrench, so-so pliers, gauge for spark plug gaps...and 3 spanners. Look carefully at the lid...there is a Blue Grass nail set sticking to the metal lid. Also dug out of the top compartment... A decent 5/16" wrench, a pin punch, 2 SMALL screwdrivers, 7/16" nutdriver, flexi sharpening sticks, a sharpening hone, and 3 files. Yep, that be a corncob handle..tossed thewee screwdriver wannabe. Driver bit is a long, hex shank, slotted bit...next, the top drawer.. May just toss these. Middle drawer? Wrench may get tossed. Brightyellow handle is an Irwin....more on that can opener in a bit...bottom drawer? Interesting selection. That skinny thing is a 4" XSlim saw file. 2 cold chisels could use a little cleaning up...not sure about the chisel, Crestoloy Wrench. Goodies? The small saw file. The nail set is by Blue Grass Center punch is by Herbrandt...now, about that can opener? Ring a bell with anyone? From BEFORE Pull tabs were even used.... same Yard Sale, bought 2 pair of "Cheap Sunglasses" for a dollar...total for that sale? $4.. Not too bad of a morning?
July 5, 20214 yr There was a time (almost 50 years ago) I drank Blatz, back then I thought it was a good beer (back then of course, all beer was good...some just better than others.). Pretty good haul for $3. Edited July 5, 20214 yr by Fred W. Hargis Jr
July 5, 20214 yr Popular Post I've had Blatz and liked the strong flavor. Stroh's became my beer of choice somewhere along the road. Next door neighbor even named his dog Shorts as a pun to it.
July 11, 20214 yr Author Popular Post I seem to be in a rut, of sorts. Stopped at one sale...spent a dollar bill on 2 items.. Tape on handle said $0.50 SOLD, and.. I suppose it could use a new handle? A few other sales..nada...until.. This was at a Garage Sale..Price? $3...bottom was empty, but..the tray? Should be worth the 3 bucks? Bought a special painting for a friend....and drove over to deliver it to her....on the way back home, found one more sale.. This case was laying in a box on the ground...figure I could find a use for an empty Dremel case, I picked it up...hmmmm, awfully heavy to be an empty case..."How much you want for this?" "How about..$3?" "SOLD".....paid the gal, and left the scene... When I got it safely home, and opened it up.. A Dremel Model 6000 with all attachments....will need a pack of sanding sleeves, though. Not too bad of a day?
July 11, 20214 yr Popular Post Steve when we retired in last part of 98 we would leave the house early Friday or Saturday morning and spend the days driving and looking..I have a building full of stuff other people sold for nothing either because they were moving and no room to take things with them or needed the money or else didn't need the things anymore.. It doesn't take long for a person to cull out the poorer neighborhoods for all they ever sold was baby clothes and things. The richer neighborhoods have no worry about money so they have better bargains than the poor folks sales!!!!! and their things they sell are way newer than average garage sale items.
July 11, 20214 yr Popular Post I forgot to mention if you happen to die before your wife have her to get a hold of an auctioneer that knows something about tools and especially old tools and I will guarantee she will end up with more money and will get rid of all the things at once..

July 13, 20214 yr Author Popular Post That Carpenter's scribe? By GENERAL...has been cleaned up.. And... given a new pencil.. There was a 1" chisel... That needed a little bit of clean up.. Had a slight curve to the edge....good enough for around the house jobs... That be a Craftsman logo....wonder IF I can get it replaced at Lowes? the back wasn't too bad... had a slight back bevel.....not sure if it is worth the effort to restore to "Like New"....
