Played with my blocks for a while on Sunday.   

Looking a different combinations of maple, mahogany, walnut, and cherry 2x2 blanks for my next lathe project.  Haven't glued anything up, just looking at possibilities.  I have enough material for 2 6x6 blanks. 

 

Does anyone have direct experience with this specific lathe...Powermatic PM2014.  Thinking of purchasing a stand alone so I can leave the ShopSmith setup for other tasks.

 

Heavy week ahead at the J.O.B and I don't expect much time for the shop.

What..Monday...again?   Will try to work on a box this week....all I got done over the weekend was a couple glue-ups...

Enjoyed a nice picnic with my brothers and sisters in the backyard Saturday.  The weather done us right too.  Might get a little shop time in this week.

My friends 50th birthday party was yesterday.  Gave him my gifts in this bag.

Replaced power steering hose on Pilot, wife ran to store with the JEEP while I was doing that, came back and asked "How were the brakes when you ran for parts"?  I replied "They were working fine why"?  Son stated "Had to add brake fluid"  Now I get to do a brake line.

Work continues on drawer organizers.

 

 

My Mother came for a visit to look at some of my drawer organizers.  Was looking for ideas for her sewing stuff.  She left with 5 cash register inserts and several plastic trays.

 

While I was getting it in the car she looked at this drawer.

 

 

Then decided it should be put in alphabetical order.

 

 

Customer had vehicle towed in. Says it is smoking badly out tailpipe.  AND uses alot of oil.

 

In the trunk I found 2 empty cases of oil and another 4 qts empty of 3rd case.

 

Inquired how long this had been going on and pointed to the oil.

 

He says, " oh I just changed the oil last week.  "

 

And you used that much in a week?

 

"No I drained the oil and filled it to the top."

 

Top of what?

 

"Where I poured it in."

 

 

Yeah well your vehicle takes 5 qts and you check the level with this stick here.

 

 

That will be $55....

Jeeeezzzzz.....how dumb can some folks be?

Oil pressure indicator switch on 1985 Oldsmobile Cutlass kept turning on the low oil light so stepson kept adding oil until motor would barely run. I checked the dip stick and couldn't believe how far above full it showed. Asked him "Did you check the dip stick?" His answer " What's that?"

Needless to say when I drained the oil out my 15 qt. oil drain pan overflowed. Man was that a mess.

Did you really need to ask that question? 

Went to Mother's today and got the vinyl siding on the front of house cleaned up along with a long list of other To Do Items.

 

A/C went out last night. Start capacitor went bad.  Managed to get right number for it. Called buddy to ask can he get one today while I am at work. Planned on installing it this evening.  As he works in HVAC he would get good price.

 

Even better. He dropped by at 0830 with part and installed it for me.

Funny thing about those capacitors Gunny, they always fail when needed the most!  And we have sure used the a/c this past week...
