Popular Post AndrewB Posted May 7, 2021 Popular Post Report Posted May 7, 2021 (edited) So this month I did purchase the PSI Woodworking Buffing System. I set it up for testing today after I got my antique pepper mill body finished up to test it out. Now having a variable speed controlled buffing attachment for the lathe is quite nice. It works well using it. It did an okay buffing job. Aside from the base polishing that I gave it while it was still on the lathe. Works well for 60 bucks roughly its not bad. If you order it from amazon youll get free delivery not sure from other websites theyll charge for delivery. https://www.amazon.com/PSI-Woodworking-Products-LBUFFSYS-Buffing/dp/B004CVJBYE/ref=sr_1_2?dchild=1&keywords=PSI+buffing+system&qid=1620412070&sr=8-2 https://www.pennstateind.com/store/LBUFFSYS.html Other sites do sell this but yea shipping is where they'll get you for that. So I did buy it through amazon. The set up does work quite well. Before After Edited May 7, 2021 by AndrewB FlGatorwood, lew, Artie and 3 others 6 Quote
lew Posted May 7, 2021 Report Posted May 7, 2021 Looks like that system is similar to the Beall system. I started gathering parts to put something like this together but couldn’t find suitable buffing wheels locally. Kinda went on the back burner. Someone told me that I needed to let the finish cure for several weeks to get the best results. DuckSoup, FlGatorwood and Cal 3 Quote

Gerald Posted May 9, 2021 Report Posted May 9, 2021 rLew it depends on the finish you used. For Watco 3 to 7 days should be plenty. For lacquer use a speed under 850 or it will melt the lacquer. Good with Tung Oil also. Have done some other finishes also. I do not think the Penn State buffs are near as good as the Beall are. Beall has more stitching making it tighter . I do not think you will be happy with the trio mount and I do not know any serious turners in our club who use it. FlGatorwood, DuckSoup, Artie and 1 other 4 Quote
