January 31, 20215 yr I know the rage is all about water based products but call me old fashioned, I prefer real lacquer to water based.
January 31, 20215 yr I'm with you there, Gunny. When I did my apprenticeship in Graphic Arts for a few years, once in a while I got sent to one of the paint shops. They used the old lacquer with lacquer thinner in a pot with a paint gun. I well remember when I got an opportunity to pour the paint through the filters, then poured the thinner through the filter. It was a durable paint and was very scratch resistance. I am not a fan of water based paints or other treatments on wood products. Like Gerald said, it does raise the grain.
January 31, 20215 yr Popular Post An excellent article, one I hadn't seen. I fear we are headed to a future where only waterborne finishes will be available. They've improved greatly but still lack the appeal of a solvent based finish to me.
