At the corner Do It Best Hardware store near where I used to live, there was always a display of Lutz File and Tool products on the checkout or service desk counter. Usually screw drivers or utility knives. They are a Cincinnati-based company. A number of years ago, they acquired Millers Falls (@StevenNewman will know them for their eggbeater drills and miter boxes). I am not sure they did much with that label and now it's owned by a Chinese company. https://oldtoolheaven.com/ However, they also started a division that was called Gorilla Glue. Obviously, that took off and has moved to bigger and bigger facilities in town. At one time, I finished some end tables for the family that owns those companies, though it was thru one of my retail clients, so they probably didn't know me at all. http://lutztool.com/#
January 19, 20224 yr Bringing up the old King Mills plant really has memories for me. As a young boy (10) we lived in Kings Mills. The was the early 60s and we (my friends and I) would go down to the now abandoned factory land and walk all over the place. Since the Little Miami river ran through it, we did a lot of fishing down there as well....actually the fishing was really good back then. Caught a lot of dinners for our household. Camped down there quite a bit (this was later after I joined scouts) and even after we moved to the next village over (Mason) we went back there often to camp/fish/be outside. Funny thing is we always called it the King Powder company, I actually didn't even know that Peters Cartridge owned it.
January 19, 20224 yr I happen to have a Lutz file, with wood handle....a triangular file that someone long ago ground the end into a chisel's bevel.....works great for dovetails...
