Titebond Quick & Thick replacing No-run No-drip

I use this quite a bit for mitered and other short-grain joints.  It works great.

Effectively immediately, Titebond Quick & Thick 16 oz. will REPLACE Titebond No-Run, No-Drip 16 oz. No-Run, No-Drip is being discontinued, and to keep this change transparent, Titebond Quick & Thick will obtain its part number, #2404.

Quick & Thick is the exact same formula as No-Run, No-Drip, containing identical features and benefits! This formula is 2X faster setting and 3X thicker than traditional wood glue, and is ideal for woodworking, home repairs and craft projects. It also dries clear and bonds wood, stone, ceramic, pottery, glass, fabrics and most craft-type materials. The Quick & Thick label does a much better job of communicating these unique performance characteristics.

The change is being made due to increased social media exposure, significant sales growth, and customer demand. Effective immediately, you can expect to receive 16 oz. Quick & Thick when ordering part #2404.

Have to try some out.  Would be nice to have some around for those quickie jobs.  I usually save glue ups for end of the night so they get overnight cure time anyway. Because hey I still have to go to work to make money to pay the bills.

Haven’t had the opportunity to try this particular product. Definitely looks interesting

Have been using it for a while and love that stuff. You have to think ahead though. It sets up pretty quick. For doing miters it has one disadvantage and that is it is so thick it will not allow the pieces to come together perfectly. There will be a slight gap compared to type I unless you are very quick. If you are doing segmented bowls and using the hand set method it works very well.

Hmm, as my speed is just shy of Glacial may have to drink more coffee when I use that.

We had Bob Behnke (the head of Titebond's tech support group) come give a glue seminar at the ww club a few years ago.   He asked me to prepare some 1x2 poplar.  He glued it up end-grain to end-grain and let it sit about 15 minutes.  At that point he stood on it and it did not break until he jumped up and down on it.  That sold me on it.

I used this glue on some of the pegs I glued into the Christmas stocking tree I made.  That post is on the woodturning forum.  Some of those pegs were looser in the holes than others due to the fact that almost all of them were turned from square blanks.  I had some leftover maple dowel rod that made a few of the pegs easier.  Anyway, I used the Quick and Thick on the looser pegs due to what I perceived to be it's gap filling properties, and was quite pleased with it.  I will still keep Type 2 around, but Q&T will definitely have a place in my shop.  At least until they "improve" it.

Did the glue itself break, or did the wood next to the glue break?

I found a good use for this today.   I was gluing up some small beveled pieces.   Clamping was not working as there was barely room and applying any pressure caused the piece to move.   I put on some Q&T and did a "rubbed joint."   It set up fast enough that I could just set it aside and it held.   If I was thinking, I might have put a drop of CA at each end and Q&T along the middle stretch.
