Popular Post Steve Krumanaker Posted December 1, 2020 Popular Post Report Posted December 1, 2020 (edited) Added some little birds to a few of the birdhouse ornaments. They are quick and fun to turn but gluing them up and on is kind of tedius. Edited December 1, 2020 by Steve Krumanaker Artie, DuckSoup, Gunny and 7 others 10 Quote

Popular Post Gerald Posted December 2, 2020 Popular Post Report Posted December 2, 2020 We have a club member who turns birds off center but that does not hold a candle to your tiny birds. Have you thought about using a white wood and dyeing them in colors? HandyDan, Steve Krumanaker, Larry Buskirk and 5 others 8 Quote
FlGatorwood Posted December 2, 2020 Report Posted December 2, 2020 Steve, those are labor intensive. And, way beyond my patience to make 2 pieces, then glue together and then to glue to the ornament. That is awesome. Steve Krumanaker, Artie, Cal and 1 other 4 Quote

Have you thought about using a white wood and dyeing them in colors? Thanks everyone! Mostly I've just tried to rely on contrasting woods to make them interesting. Mike Peace also makes them and actually does a glue up to simulate the wings. I also have a lady FB friend who gives them a lot of detail and glues on eyes and a beak, that's just crazy!! 5 hours ago, FlGatorwood said: Steve, those are labor intensive. The turning goes very quickly but my problem is, this time of years my fingers get really slick and I drop about as many as I get assembled. Don't even bother to look for them, there are little bird heads all over the shop!! p_toad, Artie, Gerald and 6 others 1 8 Quote

Hi Larry Pretty sure it's this set here. Since then I've invested in a collet chuck and prefer that. https://www.amazon.com/NOVA-JS25N-1-Inch-Chuck-Accessory/dp/B0064JJ8WM/ref=sr_1_4?dchild=1&keywords=nova+jaws&qid=1606943333&sr=8-4 Edited December 2, 2020 by Steve Krumanaker Add picture. Nova G3.pdf 415.2 kB · 2 downloads Larry note this one has dedicated 1 inch 8 tpi. Insert chucks allow use on larger lathes and sell easier if you decide to get rid of one. Other than that the G3 is a good chuck for mini lathes and package is a good way to get jaws cheaper "IF" you plan to use all of them. Found this set at Klingspor for 183.99. This one is dedicated thread also. Just a month ago the net was covered with G3 but not now.https://www.woodworkingshop.com/product/te48246/?inMed=GSTORE&dfw_tracker=18711-TE48246&gclid=Cj0KCQiA2af-BRDzARIsAIVQUOeLtVaMg16EYRE2QNQcTMAlcDTrmGeEn1bh3sY_6KdtYJl7KSfHD08aAjEsEALw_wcB Edited December 4, 2020 by Gerald FlGatorwood, Cal, Artie and 2 others 3 2 Quote
