Really goofed this one up

I picked up my newly sharpened jointer blades yesterday and put them back on.  It's on a combo-machine, Hitachi F1000A.  Below the blade assembly is a pair of springs that push the blade up so they can be set.   Something went wrong and the springs weren't where they were supposed to be.  They ended up getting crimped at the top instead of being enclosed.  So I removed the blade and tried again.  It seemed good until I ran a test piece through.  The blade worked loose, chipped the edge of the cast iron bed, bent and chipped the blade, and bent the retainer.   It's almost 40 years old and parts, other than blades, are mostly discontinued.  Talking to the repair shop and they're going to check with Hitachi to see if the replacement model's parts will work on my model.  Otherwise, it's RIP on a very nice machine.  Darn.

Ouch!

Check eBay! you might find good used parts there.

How bad did it chip the bed?  I'm guessing that it is the retainer that you need to hunt down?
