I ripped a 2 x 4 a few day’s ago and saw this sap pocket. I propped it up and it ran like molasses. Have seen pockets before but this one was kinda dramatic. How often do y’all see this kind of pocket?61BAC55B-E4B9-4347-AA7B-46B643E0E362.jpeg.2ff7fc9eb32cae1f6cfb39a2bbe5f5ed.jpeg

I’ve seen it once (now).

Yeah, pine is so enjoyable to work with sometimes.....:D

The last time I saw this I was only a child, not even school age.  It has been a couple of moons.

For that reason is why I have a "pine cutting" blade for my TS.   Danl

I see the pitch pockets all the time, sometimes I have them weep.  Haven't seen one just ooze out like that.  Gonna take a bit of shellac to seal that sucker up Gerald:D

Good fire starting material right there....

I have seen some small ones but I don’t think I have seen one that large. That’s pretty cool looking.

I've noticed that building outdoor structures (pergolas) out of 4x6, you get beads of "sap sweat" after a few days exposure.  Sunlight heating might be part of it.
