I ripped a 2 x 4 a few day’s ago and saw this sap pocket. I propped it up and it ran like molasses. Have seen pockets before but this one was kinda dramatic. How often do y’all see this kind of pocket?

Yeah, pine is so enjoyable to work with sometimes.....

The last time I saw this I was only a child, not even school age.  It has been a couple of moons.  

For that reason is why I have a "pine cutting" blade for my TS.   Danl

I see the pitch pockets all the time, sometimes I have them weep.  Haven't seen one just ooze out like that.  Gonna take a bit of shellac to seal that sucker up Gerald

I have seen some small ones but I don’t think I have seen one that large. That’s pretty cool looking.

I've noticed that building outdoor structures (pergolas) out of 4x6, you get beads of "sap sweat" after a few days exposure.  Sunlight heating might be part of it.
