Natural edge hollow form

I was inspired to do this when I looked at a thin turned bowl sitting atop another round bowl. Can’t remember to take pics like Steven but did get beginnings and end. Two little problem at end. When I came back to it today some of the bark separated . Tried to glue and it came off so pieced back on. Did the bottom too thin and got two cracks in bottom when parting off. Good news is both anytime repaired.66539191-FD3D-4DD5-AC68-D504B9C8F7EC.jpeg.7f2ee70738f850271020abc546705e96.jpeg

The bottom is about 3/8 and the top. Wing about 3/16

Beautiful!!

my last couple of natural edge attempts had the bark come off. I think I waited too long after the log was cut.

I always admire these pieces with bark.  How do you glue it back?  With what glue?

Gerald, I meant to say that you did an awesome job.

I use CA but from what I hear that may fail in maybe 10 to 20 years. I put CA on both inside and outside edge of bark. This tree was cut in about May and I was shocked that the bark has held on three pieces but I am turning bark edge thin. This was again Live Oak

its looks amazing are you gonna seal it or leave it natural?

Not sure of finish because of the NE I cannot buff like I usually would with Watco. Could be shellac or lacquer. Don't care for poly at all. I recently got some waterlox but am not impressed .

Very nice Gerald.  Lots of skill needed to pull that off.

Impressive work!!

Very nice Gerald!

Wow!

Very nice Gerald, your posts are always interesting, not just for the project, but for a learning lesson to me and many others. Your explanations and guidance are much appreciated.
