Had a request a while back for a real wooden nickel.  So I took a piece of 8 x 8 x 3/4 piece of glued up birch and tried my hand at 2 sided carving.  It's 6 1/4 across.  Also put it on Etsy for the heck of it and have sold probably 20 or so of them.  Go figure!

Pretty unique John, just curious is there a finish that goes on them, or just plain ol wood like the old ones?

You can finish them if you want, but I just leave em plain ole wood.  Seems to work best.

That is really cool. Make a penny out of a tan wood and the next time you catch your wife staring and thinking..........give her a big penny for her big thoughts.
