July 21, 20205 yr This reminds me of trying to get a screw out of my wife's Singer Featherweight sewing machine. Slotted head that had been stripped and couldn't get it open to lube the gears. I took it over to a friend's house that is more into machine stuff. He had to pound it out with a cold chisel. Then we find out it's a 6-40 (fine thread) that no hardware store carries. So I had to order online and had to buy a bag of 25 or so. Fortunately, allen (hex) drive. Then it was just a trifle long, so back to my friend's house where he had a 6-40 tap to thread another 1/8" deep. If anyone needs one for the access plate cover on the top, let me know. I have a few extra.

I don't get into many of those situations much anymore, but sometimes $10 is a small price for something that will fix your problem. Fix it before you wreck it trying

Fix it before you wreck it trying I saw it online looking for something else. Thought for that price I can use it once and get myself out of a jamb and make out. Since then have used alot more than I thought. We take all kinds of stuff apart at work.
July 22, 20205 yr When Gunny retires, he can sell that set of tools at his house and have a very nice retirement. Yes, my first thought was use an easy out. I have a set of them and they are very handy. I use a center punch to initiate the hole, then use the Shopsmith as often as I can to get a pretty precise bore. It works most of the time.
July 22, 20205 yr That looks a bit sad. I didn't see a pentalobe and some of those spline looking ones on kmealy's chart aren't the old spline tools i recall. someone always has a better idea.
