July 10, 20205 yr Anyone have any experience with the Grizzly mobile bases? I'm looking at the T28923 which they call The Bear Crawl "Papa Bear" Mobile Base. It's rated at 1200 lbs, so it should handle my Delta Contractor's saw. My main concern is if the foot levers that allow movement of the saw and then stabilize it again are robust enough. The price is reasonable, if it is a good product.
July 10, 20205 yr Not sure who makes it based on what the Grizzly website offered. Just gave 2 mobile bases that fit your saw to someone here couple months ago.
July 10, 20205 yr I have the shop fox mobile base on my table saw, which uses similar design. Taking the weight off the casters when using is good. The feature where only two of the wheels swivel causes a lot of back and forth to position the saw where I want it. I keep thinking there's got to be something better. I have seen some pictures of nice looking homemade bases, but welding isn't part of my skill set. A set like these is another option, but the release for setting it on the floor is a bit inconvenient.
July 10, 20205 yr Popular Post I got the bases from Gunny after looking for a USA made mobile base didn't work out. Anyway, here's what bothers me about that Grizzly base. Call me cynical, but I checked the reviews. A whole lot of them are "No feedback given". The cynical part of me says that those reviewers weren't happy and their remarks were deleted. If it was only one or two I wouldn't give that a thought...but it appears to be well over 1/2 of the comments. The other thing to consider is the length of your right side extension. I had a Delta contractors saw with the Delta mobile base, and it was made to carry the saw as well as that extension.

What doesn't make sense to me about those reviews is all or at least most of them were 4 or 5 stars. Why say 5 stars if the narrative was negative? A retailer once told me that he could pay people to flood his web site with positive reviews. He said he didn't pay attention to positive reviews, only the negative ones because he thought those were probably the honest ones. As for the extension, I don't have room in my shop for that, so that isn't an issue.

The trick to release: edge the side of your foot under the lever (not your toes), then pull up. It helps if you're wearing foot gear with uppers (good sandals will do...shower shoes? meh).

Somewhere I saw a homemade release lever that controlled how fast the caster came up and avoided the clunk when the bench hit the floor. It was a couple of feet long with a slot cut at one end that fit over the release lever.

I just grab that corner of the table (I need something to hold on to with one foot in the air, anyway) and let it down gentle like.
