Friday June 19th 2020-What's on Your Weekend Agenda?

A little late, but happy Friday!

And a Happy Juneteenth Day to all of you!

As for me here in S.E. Wisconsin I'm still working on the Greenhouse Shed I mentioned in the Monday topic.

I've made some pretty good progress after taking a couple of steps back due to these plastic sheds requiring just about a perfectly level surface for them to rest upon. I went the extra step of making an adjustable skid to keep this thing as level as I can. We get some pretty serious  frost heave in this area. It's almost like mowing a different yard every year due to it. So I made some heavy duty elevator bolts so I can adjust the level as necessary. I'm late today due to trying to beat the sun from crispy frying me to a crackly crunch. I just can't take cooking in the sun like I used to. So below are some photos of the progress so far.

The first photo shows yesterdays progress of getting a skid built under the main section. I couldn't get pictures of the work in progress due to building the skid under the Greenhouse/Shed.

These are the elevator bolts I made up from 5/8" threaded rod. They fit into holes drilled into the 3 4 x 6 x 12's. There are also 2 2 x 6 x 12's ran between the 4 x 6's, they are hung in joist brackets.

This photo shows the skid frame that goes under the greenhouse section. There will not be as much weight on this section so it is all made from 2 x 6's, with the exception of the 4 x 4 blocks used for the elevator bolts.

This photo shows the elevator bolts in the 4 x 4 blocks. The main section bolts go into the 4 x 6 x 12's.

I'm now back to where I was before having to get a better surface for this project to rest upon. ;)

Still have to do a bit of tweaking, and build a ramp for the zero turn.

So I'll be working around the sun/weather. You know what I'll be doing.

So what have you all got planned for the weekend?

Looking good. When you posted this earlier I though it was a playhouse.

Busy working on finishing process for bench.

:ChinScratch:...That's what the wife said also.

The main shed section is 8' x 12', the greenhouse extension is 3' x 9'8".

Decided to make a second table for the furniture bank from my "wood inventory"   I had 1/3 sheet of walnut plywood.  It had some water stains (when I got it), but I managed to get them out with a cabinet scraper.   Wood trim is walnut salvage from some doors. Legs will be poplar and aprons lyptus, because that's what I had that was near the right dimensions.   I plan to put on some dark walnut Watco Danish Oil to bring the colors together, then a couple of coats of shellac to bring out the figure and a couple of coats of varnish to finish it up.  I may need to adjust the color mid-process, we'll see how it goes.

Someone once told me they wished they had a nickel for every piece of poplar that was finished to look like walnut.  I'd agree.

Glad you showed them.   I thought you were talking about real elevator bolts (it's a thing).

Larry, I like the play/green house.  :ROFL:Yes, I like the idea that you can store your ZTC in there as well.  Great asset.

Got both yards this week, made eggplant parmesan.  Good to eat but labor intensive to make.  Ugh!  Got 3 pens made and each recipient was excited.  Almost ready to finish the band saw box.  Can hardly wait.  Will ship next week.  Will start on Sunday to make the 18 pens.  Yep, a real pen-demic.  Can hardly wait until it is over.  Next week will start on repairing a 1970's wooden rocker.  I may have to contact Keith for some help.

Today, while doing final sanding on band saw box, our new neighbor requested that I build them a table to put plants on.  It will be 2 or 3 weeks. This is going to be a challenge.

Happy pappy day, y'all.

Let's see, painting - the LR is ready for paint.  I have the windows and doors taped up and washed the walls down yesterday.  Without interruptions I "should" be able to get the walls painted.

The lawn needs mowing again.

I have an electrical line to run, two outlets to install on the front porch with an inside switch at the front door.  BIL says he will try to come over today (interruption) to look at the project.  Should he feel up to it we would make a run to big blue to pick up the needed supplies (long interruption).

I will get them all done; if not, you may hear about them on Monday;)

But it's all good.  I am up, capable of doing the things I need/want to do and have the support & encouragement from SWMBO and my friends here:)

Replaced two sprinkler heads and, got a haircut. That was enough for friday. Now, our washing machine just died. The dryer sounds like it's about ready to go, too. Phyl wants to wait until we have to make the 40 mi. trip to pick up our Polaris at the dealer to shop for a new set of laundry gadgets. That'll likely be Tuesday. So, might get a couple days in the shop....unless they call about the Polaris being ready, today.

Haven't had a house showing for a week. We're beginning to think selling is not gonna happen. That's OK with us, actually.

:ChinScratch:...I don't know why they call them elevator bolts, but Menards & Lowes both carry them in smaller sizes listed that way. I myself think of them more as leveling foot/feet bolts.

Wouldn't ya know it? Just got a call that some interested party from NM is on their way to see our house. They want us out by 10:00 thats in 15 minutes.

It sucks selling a house while you live in it. Anyway, see you back here in a few hours?

In this case they are being used to "elevate" and level the project.:P

The yard swing needed a coat of paint, so I did get that done yesterday. Not much fun in the 90 degree weather. Also managed to build an outfeed table for the TS. Nothing fancy, but definitely functional. Gathered a few 2X4's and a top from an old cabinet to put it together.

The lookers made a verbal offer. $20k less than our asking price. Won't even be worth our time to make a counter. But, we'll wait to see it in writing. Maybe, their agent can talk some sense to them. Phyl and I don't have to sell. But, all this acreage and this big house is becoming burdensome.

:Hot:...You sure got that right Al.

We got to only 86° today, with a dewpoint of 68°, and only 63% humidity. <_<

...Somebody stick a fork in me,

:ChinScratch: I think I'm done.
