April 17, 20206 yr Popular Post Well here we are another Friday folks. At least I think it's Friday,... hard to tell anymore. We're still waiting for the weather to let us do outside things. Right now we're watching it snow again! So what have you all got planned for what seems like a never ending weekend,..and nowhere to go?
April 17, 20206 yr Popular Post My wife's teak rocking chairs may get painted, and then we have a redwood glider for me to work on. Gawd, I hate cleaning these things off. I had just ordered a new combo sander...this morning I got the shipping notice, so I'm looking forward to getting it (next week maybe). Edited April 17, 20206 yr by Fred W. Hargis Jr
April 17, 20206 yr Popular Post Only thing on my agenda is to turn a chair rung for my niece. She doesn’t have any idea how it got broken but she has two teenage sons. Hmmm. I don’t like furniture repair but it is my niece.
April 17, 20206 yr Popular Post We have a couple showings of our place today. That means we'll have to vacate for about 4 hours. We need a few things from Lowes, water hoses and, some hardboard for templates. The cutters on my Shelix head need rotated. So, thats a job for tomorrow, along with gluing up some maple and walnut for a bandsaw box for our newest grandaughter. It'll be the letter N for Norah. Wish they'd have named her Ophelia or Penelope. An N is tough to design drawers for.

April 17, 20206 yr Popular Post Got a friend to come over and help me get hit tub out of it's home for last 20 years. Got it out nobody got hurt, tub is in great shape. AND have a buyer coming tonight for pick-up. So I now have a 10x12 building to make my finishing area. Ordered some more LED lights so I can change out the ceiling fan for them. Next I need a custom fan box to sit in window for ventilation. And then some sort of bench on wheels to put stuff. Plenty to do, but no extra time off.
April 17, 20206 yr Popular Post Errand day today. Went grocery shopping early during senior hours. Last went 4 weeks ago. It is a local owned store and I have shopped there for years. All the familiar faces were there and not wearing face masks. They must feel relatively safe. Saw on the news last night that Youngstown has only had 75 cases so far. A third of those were in nursing homes. Not too bad. Going to stop and see my best friend for a few minutes, social distancing of course. Stopping at the deli for some hand made pirogi for dinner. Getting enough for two dinners and freeze one. Just putzing in the shop lately. Liking it.
April 17, 20206 yr Popular Post Well, there ya go, Dan - PUTZING - I like it. With all our spring shows cancelled, my inventory continues to grow. Will be glad when they open up again so I can sell some of it. Glad everyone - well mostly - is sheltering in place. When I have to go out it is gloves and masks. Not willing to take the chance.
April 19, 20206 yr Popular Post Finished. Unfortunately, I had to turn both side rungs. When I disassembled the chair I found the other one cracked.

April 19, 20206 yr Popular Post Today, had the 2 grandchildren. Played games. Made my first attempt on Friday to turn an inside out cross. Have some neat ideas, thanks to Ron. Will be posting one day next week. Tomorrow, Sunday, we have rain and storms all day with the possibility of hail and tornadoes. While the storms come through tomorrow, will be cleaning and doing laundry. This past week, I had to change the starter on my 3 year old Toro ZT mower. Both starter and solenoid were bad. Found the last new one on eBay and shipping charges and taxes were included. Still have the old one to have it rebuilt when the repair shop opens. Got the 1.6 acres mowed, came home and mowed my yard. Rented a UHaul truck and took a utility pole that had been cut into 8 foot lengths to make gate posts at the other place. Also took some 6 X 6 to make a grape arbor for muscadine vines. Projects lined up for the month and maybe longer. Just hoping the weather stays relatively cool so I don't overheat.
April 19, 20206 yr Popular Post Had a cabinet to get finished up.....then trying to figure out the next project to work on,,,
April 19, 20206 yr Popular Post Fantastic repair job @Ron Dudelston! Got a boring job. Turning 40 Shelix head knives to their new faces. Was getting ridges but, couldn't find the offenders. Decided to turn them all. Probably taking more time than necessary but, each little blade comes off and it's seat gets cleaned before it goes back on. When that's done, the Shopsmith gets lubed and cleaned.
