Embellished plates

New project is embellished plates. This is this month’s club challenge. Got one done today and ready for finish. The pattern used is called Stick n Burn. It in printed on adhesive backing so can peel and stick to project then burn the lines. This I took one step further with translucent pigment from Wellburn Gourd . Now have to decide how to best apply finish. Going to try shellac first coat before final of lacquer. 24CA3E6E-AD50-4001-B97E-D81EE1342480.jpeg.3eaedfb6f72084b293c193c55f9ccd5b.jpeg3308704F-37B0-4B1D-A9C2-9D6128959012.jpeg.eb210faccb5240cf2005dddb392e90ac.jpeg

My my wife says it looks better than the picture as The pigments are also iridescent.

Interesting looking piece.  Does it take a long time to do the burning??

Think that part was about 1.5 hours. Did all this except turning the plate in 3.5 hours today.

Lots of time involved in it I'll bet.  Looking good.

That is beautiful! In my life I have embellished many things, but a plate? No.

It is beautiful, looks like a stained glass plate Gerald.

Beautiful, Gerald! I'd be interested in hearing more about the spiral on the plate rim.

Spectacular Gerald, I really like the center motif.

It is created with the Sorby Miniature spiraling tool . You set the angle about 30 to 45 degrees and run the pattern and then reverse the angle but keeping the cutting edge (the bevel side) into the cut. If it does not work then turn it off and repeat. I just am not good enough to get this every time .

I used Acrylic Sealer and then shellac over the colors, then acryliIMG_4015.JPG.d3f1cac11963a94bbf2731f4f8b313c3.JPGc lacquer. All this did slightly dim the colors but that is to be expected after a finish on bright colors.

Turned out great.  Loving the finish.

Beautiful Gerald
