February 4, 20206 yr A good article on layered finishes. Wipe-and-go is not always the best approach for adding color. I should add that years ago, my buddies at PopWood found General Finishes Java a good stain for QSWO, too. https://www.popularwoodworking.com/finishing/arts-crafts-oak-finish/?hss_channel=tw-27657236#
February 4, 20206 yr Laurie McKichan is a name I haven't heard, is she on the PWW staff now? I do like the results of here schedule, and may give it a try on the A&C piece.
February 4, 20206 yr Author The first I've heard of her, too. But the PopWood has moved from Cincinnati to California (?) or wherever the new owner is. I only know of one person, Andrew Zoellner, that was on the old PopWood staff and according to the last letter from the editor, he works remotely from his garage shop in Minnesota. The latest issue still has a column by Flexner, but that may have been in the pipeline.
