If I may back up to last week, we had three really nice days and four that were "not so nice".  I took advantage of the warm sunny afternoons to get some yard work done.  Pruned the muscadines, crape myrtles and yesterday the large lantanas we have in the yards.  While those jobs are not difficult they do take time, especially the muscadines which is somewhat meticulous.

On the not so nice days I dove in to work on the "sun room".   This room used to be the dining room before the remodel began.  During the kitchen phase the room was walled off and all drywall, wiring and most of the painting was done last summer.  Prior to last week I had hung the ceiling fan, painted a border around the ceiling, hung chair rail on the ceiling and walls.  Last week I tackled the flooring and laid laminate and finished off with new base and shoe moulding.  The room is not large, slightly over 10 x 10.  The floor took me a bit over 3 days to complete.  Mostly because my legs were complaining so much bending over, kneeling, getting down, getting up.

So this week I have to trim the french doors to clear the height of the laminate.  We are supposed to have some more warm weather, I hope to get in the shop and complete the picture frames I started before Christmas, and work on a couple lazy susans.  And move furniture into the sunroom.

Some time back I had built a desk for our basement, kind of a library table style done loosely in an A&C style. I'm now building a second one for the upstairs computer. While this is the same type desk, it's a little more contemporary in style...and made of cherry instead of QSWO (the first one). Working on fluting the legs today (between the errands I'm running for LOML), got the frame ready to go over the weekend.

Decided a few weeks back that the basement & 2 ceiling fans are the only projects for this spring. The boss reserves her right to change her mind and maybe paint in the fall. Our Goddaughter is getting married this June and she is already in the planning stages with the girls' mom. The basement is a small craft store with enough supplies for several weddings and other hobbies. After this wedding she agreed to sell all wedding supplies which should free up 30% of the basement. Our 3 daughters are now established in their own  homes so anything that belongs to them goes to them. Recently I purchased 25- 64qt tubs for my wife's sewing cloths & yarns, she used 6, including the 7 she already had we are up to 13 just for yarn. My plan is to build enough shelves for 50 of these tubs, everything else goes.

I have in the works several projects for my shop that I have put off for too long, new 60amp service, permanent dust collection, relocate compressor & hard pipe as well as several mobile carts for tools & material.

We got home from Tucson on Thursday evening. Friday was unpack and wash day. Got a little shop time on Saturday, mostly cleaning and prepping material. Sunday was computer time, getting photos ready to laser. Then, we went out to dinner and watched the game in their bar. Had no dog in that fight. Great game. Great meal. Today, I have to get the windshield replaced in the car. This will be #3 in 4 years. All caused by pebbles from trucks passing us. Then, maybe, I can get in some shop time. Depends on the nap time. Priorities, ya know.

Still working on a child's "market stand" for a local library. Got it all assembled now applying veneer over the plywood edges. Need to plug the holes from the screws. Sand and apply poly finish.

Started with this picture-

Shop time may be minimal this week.  I was elected to the city council to replace a friend that died suddenly.  First meeting is tonight and the rest of the week is packed.  I do need to complete a cherry flag case though.

A bit late for Monday, but rear (Drum) brakes on the 1999 Jeep. :(

Wife went to leave for store and passenger side blew a wheel cylinder. :Tapping:

Got it apart just before dark to discover the self adjuster cable was also broke.

I came to a realization that one of my charity contribution project objectives is losing its effect. Over the years I have built many items for fundraising for various organizations. Used to generate good money----seems not so any more. Church and other charity auctions don't generate the same enthusiasm as in past years----at least in my area. I did some research and found that I should simply write a check----I am not criticizing, only reacting to reality in my situation. I will however keep on keeping on in the shop, building items for those who appreciate quality and form. I am old enough to understand that things change and adapting to that change is good for the soul. That's what is on my workbench.

Half way done with the brakes, had to keep thawing my hands out.

I know Murphy's hanging around here somewhere laughing at me. <_<
