Large Tenor Lathe

Featured Replies

  • Popular Post

I got a call today to come pick up some free scrap metal.

The scrap turned out to be a Tenor lathe. 7.5 HP.

It came with an 8" Tenon bit. Cheapest new tenon bit

of that size that I found on google is $700.00.

I'm going to remove the motor and install an 2 1/2"

arbor shaft and a smaller motor. When I'm finished

I will be able to use this as a wood lathe to. More projects.

I'll never catch up.

WOW!!!  That thing is as big as the width of my shop.

I remember motors looking like that in the 1960's.  The only 2 that I can remember were GE and Westinghouse.  When I worked for W. W. Sly in Cleveland, OH, we used those for industrial dust filters.

Man have you got some toys. What kind of scale is that? Industrial grade??

The Tenon bit was made by Mar-Sal Machine Co Inc.

Seem like they went out of business.

It looks like the most Industrial grade tenor bit ever made.
