AWESOME!!!!

What a project and execution!  The end product is a bit puzzling.  Splitting it in half to make 2 picture frames would be something I could understand.  Thanks for sharing this.  Some really complex engineering.

I am in Steve's camp on this.  Amazing work, but I am scratching my head wondering if the end result is something more than a piece of art?

I see it as a complex, well engineered and turned piece. A very nice paper weight in its present form. If he can slice it in 3/4" layers, It would make a great set of picture frames.

Ron it is ART. Most turnings the big names do are art and serve no purpose. This torus is large but I have seen a demo doing a smaller one , not segmented. I do not have much you could call pure art but I do have many hollowforms and vessels which will never be used.

"Ron it is ART."

It sure is. I have made a few myself.

I’m gonna have to start spelling my name with a small a, cause this has to be spelt with a capital A. HUGE amount of work. Not sure I have matured to a point in my life where I would attempt to make something as just a piece of art. I would think of it as arrogance on my part to make something that had no purpose, other than to be admired. I’m not explaining this well, because I’m not trying to offend anyone who makes, or tries to make art, only that my own insecurities would prevent me from thinking that I had the talent to make something that others would consider art. Now I can try to make something that had a purpose, because then I can judge it by how well it performs it’s purpose.

Art after you have turned for over 13 years you run out of practical and then give up when you make practical and they say it is too beautiful to use . So...........we start calling it ART.;)
