I've snapped the pins more than once. I bend the steel cold.

A guy I know has one, he made his pins out of CV axles he cut down to size.  They are rather stout!!

Would it bend better warm?  Not melting point with cutting torch, but warmed up?

Probably better. But I don't like wasting time. I can bend 10 of them in around 1-2 minutes...

Gotcha, I do bend some steel on occasion at work, or a rarer job at home.  But not that many at a time.  A one and done kinda job.  We just warm it up, bends easy and doesn't temper like turning into molten steel.
