November 30, 20196 yr Popular Post Today has been a long day, started at 4:30 am and lasted till 4:30 pm. Got up early today and hit the deer blind with my son. Had deer everywhere and unable to get a shot. We were bow hunting and just nothing in the right place with a good shot. I had to come in at 8:30 am to go to work at the range. Wow was it busy today. Lots of folks with family in and some came to shoot while others did Black Friday shopping. I got home and laid down to catch a nap and slept longer than I meant too. Oh well it was all good. So we had an awesome show last weekend to finish off the year. We took orders to personalize some of the cutting boards. I thought I would share a few of them with you. I did the engraving with the laser attachment for my Shark HD4 CNC. Its no a powerful laser but does a good job for things like this. So I got them all finished Wednesday so I could spend time with my family Thursday and then get in the short hunt this morning. Tomorrow I’m planning on finishing these natural edge shelves made from White Oak. Four shelves about an inch and three quarters thick, 30 inches long. Just a little more sanding on the edge and they get a clear finish. My wife and I are heading out for a little R&R to celebrate out 45th anniversary and a Christmas present for both of us. Just a little quite time. What’s on your agenda this weekend. I know leftovers are but what about your other plans. I hope you all had a great Thanksgiving. I look forward to reading about your plan and projects and family time. Have a great weekend and whatever you do, have fun and be safe.
November 30, 20196 yr Popular Post Well John I know you have had a full week. I am just in the process of getting ready for 3 shows in the next two weeks. Today went to the range with a friend who is into bull pup style guns. He had a 9mm and a 223 today. It was the first time he has shot the 223 and we had trouble sighting in , well note he found the site loose when we finished. So then we went to Academy as Federal ammo on sale and there is a $12.50 rebate on the black box. Then home to finish the decorations. Oh and rake some leaves in the drive, 8 cans full. Then just a little time to work on a bowl I patched the bottom on yesterday. Tomorrow is the final touches to decorations . Oh I looked for a outdoor star and failing that I will make my own.
November 30, 20196 yr Popular Post Busy working on painting the door for my deck closet. Got them all primed and two coats on the back. They need to cure some before I paint the fronts. But I am all ready once the paint is done. Already drilled the holes for the handles, recessed the hinges and such. Next up is making my wife's desk.
November 30, 20196 yr Popular Post I journeyed to the VA today to retrieve my hearing aids and stopped by Lowe’s to buy a step stool. This past week was a little busy because I had a guy call me wanting a cabinet cut down so that he could install a microwave above his range. Cabinet was no big deal but I did have to make a pair of flat doors. Today I’ll be repairing a set of drawers for him and then it’s football day. OSU vs Michigan is a tossup but I’m picking Auburn by 8 order Moody’s Crimson Tide. I’m on record, John.
November 30, 20196 yr Hope to begin putting the flooring in the kitchen this weekend. Happy Anniversary John, congrats on 45
November 30, 20196 yr Popular Post Happy Anniversary John! That is a milestone, a big one! Yesterday morning we started purchasing the gifts for The Patriot Woodworker's adopted wounded warrior family this year, their kids are going to have an amazing Christmas thanks to you all! Christmas lights and decorations on the home this weekend, then visit dad up in the mountains, no woodworking but a bunch of fun.
November 30, 20196 yr Those boards with the laser cuts are awesome. I need to retrieve a cedar board or two, slice them with the bandsaw to make a box for another neighbor widow who lost her son last month. He has some patches and such that he earned as a young man. She wants to preserve them. Then I need to mow and rake some pecan leaves. Then a few other projects after this like restoring a maple chest. I have enough to keep me busy this winter and I'll keep warm just working. Those of you going on trips, enjoy. Thank you, John Morris for shopping for our special family. I see that you changed your avatar again.
November 30, 20196 yr Popular Post Spending the holiday in Tucson with our sons and families. We'll, sadly, be leaving tomorrow morning. But, not before sampling a new Mexican seafood restaurant this evening. Looking forward to some grilled bacon wrapped, creme cheese stuffed prawns. And, a Tecati or, two. Phyl's driving.
November 30, 20196 yr Finally getting over this years first round of the croup. Took a break from the dust but should get back there soon.

Ya, my old avatar was kind of deceptive, it showed a much slimmer handsome young man than I am today. My wife however, never seems to change.
