November 29, 20196 yr I don't know lathes but I do like Delta tools. Is the lathe not worth the asking price here in kansas city. $395 but needs a motor?
November 29, 20196 yr @BillyJack, March of 1989 production date, also missing upper belt cover. May also be missing motor control unit. This is the closest catalog I could find. See page 156 http://www.vintagemachinery.org/pubs/1141/17619.pdf Finding replacement parts might cost as much as the asking price.
November 29, 20196 yr Author I believe he stated the motor and speed controler was missing. The speed controller he said could be bought from grizzly. ..the motor not expensive... Been on there awhile, has me curious. .....
November 29, 20196 yr A Delta 46-460 1HP midi lathe can be had brand new for $600 ready to run with face plate, live center, spur drive and two sizes of tool rest. Most people don't turn long spindles so he needs to find someone willing to do the work and have a working knowledge as to how. It has the bones but not much else to offer. https://www.amazon.com/Delta-Industrial-46-460-2-Inch-Variable-Speed/dp/B00309ZZRQ/ref=asc_df_B00309ZZRQ/?tag=hyprod-20&linkCode=df0&hvadid=198070022856&hvpos=1o1&hvnetw=g&hvrand=14280064644581017750&hvpone=&hvptwo=&hvqmt=&hvdev=c&hvdvcmdl=&hvlocint=&hvlocphy=9015474&hvtargid=pla-411243133167&psc=1 or how about a brand new Grizzly full size lathe. https://www.penntoolco.com/grizzly-14-x-37-wood-lathe-with-copy-attachment-g0842/?matchtype=&network=g&device=c&keyword=&campaign=744292553&adgroup=pla-296599108688&gclid=EAIaIQobChMIp-Hnv4mQ5gIVh56fCh3HDwIdEAQYBCABEgKRavD_BwE Edited November 29, 20196 yr by HandyDan
November 29, 20196 yr Author Popular Post My problem I don't care about mini lathe. I don't care for pen turning, etc. Don't think I'll turn the first bowl. Big spindles, yes..... I'm all about table pedestals and mantal columns.... Edited November 29, 20196 yr by BillyJack

November 30, 20196 yr I would not think it is worth that price. The controller will run 250 to 300. The motor you know about and the cover you can forget because there are no Delta parts hat old. Now to another reality. If that pedestal is the diameter it looks to be it will take a larger lathe. You can get extensions for the Delta 46-460 and it will wor for legs and work up to 12 inch diameter.
March 1, 20206 yr Depends on tooling... You can buy a VFD for around $100. and a used 3 phase motor for around $30... Thats what I would do... But you need a lot of tooling unless it comes with.
