I became acquainted with glazes when I helped a local finisher write a book on finishing (I suggested doing a set of projects with different techniques and using different projects, of which I made one).   She used a lot of glazes.   I bought some then.   I really got into them when I started doing refinishing professionally.    I'd say I use glazes about 80-90% of the projects that I do now.
