John Moody Posted July 12, 2019 Report Posted July 12, 2019 I was at a flea market a few weeks back and found these neat table legs. After some negotiations I was able to get them. I was seeing a slab table using them but we had a customer that wanted one of our cutting boards enlarged and used as a table top. So we scaled up up the size of the boards pieces and did the first glue and then got it ready to glue in the end grain pattern. We built a large large jig for it and did the whole top as one glue up. It’s 17” wide and 37” long. Mounted it to the legs and we have a table. There is some bracing on the back and back and under the top for support. Just got to get it into the finishing room. I also got got a call from the guy I made the Ford signs for and he needed another one so I ran it this morning. And I got a call and picture from my sawyer and I have a load of Cedar ready to pick up. Watching the weather right now to see the rain from the tropical storm makes it to us. If if we don’t get rain tomorrow I’m shooting in an IDPA match in Birmingham. What’s on your agenda this weekend? Share it with us so we can see your projects. Whatever you do, have fun and be safe. Larry Buskirk Posted July 12, 2019 Report Posted July 12, 2019 Working on making a speaker bar for the old desk computer build. This will be suspended on Oak spindles above the top monitor. Not quite sure how this is going to turn out. p_toad, Cal and Harry Brink 3 Quote

Phil Chestnut Posted July 13, 2019 Report Posted July 13, 2019 I would rather be in my shop tomorrow, but time to do some more home maintenance that badly needs to be done. Only been in the new house a few months now and been notching, when it rains that I have water going over the sides of the gutters and not the downspouts. Got my hose and gutter cleaner out thinking this would not be a big job. Oh how wrong I was... as soon as I put my gutter cleaning tool over the edge it hit what ever has been building up in there for years. Aint no one going to come and do the job for me.even thought they have all said just asks, I have been asking to deadf ears. and "well we do have a life of our own you know". So with two bad hips and two bad. knees... who am I kidding I don't have any knees anymore. But I will be going up and down ladder all day till the job is done or I fall off the ladder and can't get back up. in that case just bring me a cold one Harry Brink, Cal, p_toad and 1 other 3 1 Quote
Cal Posted July 13, 2019 Report Posted July 13, 2019 If the overcast holds for this morning I plan to finish up putting the attic floor back down. I had tore it up on the west side of the house to rework the kitchen wiring. The wiring has been done, but we have not had any cloudy weather that lends itself to working in the attic. On a sunny day it probably hits 100+ by 9 AM; even on an overcast day I can only work up there until about 10:30. In addition to all the other projects and tasks I have started to build kitchen cabinets. Yesterday I got the drawer pieces cut and sanded. I may assemble and start applying finish later today or tomorrow; or start to apply finish and assemble next week... For added strength to the plywood drawer boxes I plan to glue the bottoms in, I think if I finished first it could interfere with that plan. Harry Brink and Gunny 2 Quote
Gene Howe Posted July 13, 2019 Report Posted July 13, 2019 Assembling a new Laser. They don't come with instructions. My son was a big help with the first one. He's not here for this one, so its up to me and the dog. Hope to get it working today. Gunny and Cal 2 Quote
Ron Dudelston Posted July 13, 2019 Report Posted July 13, 2019 Late to the party, again. Yesterday I delivered a table to the local Elks lodge. They’re going through a much needed renovation project on the building and so far I’ve built 5 kitchen cabinets, 3 lecterns for the meeting room, a table for the meeting room, a bible stand and now I’m building the final podium for the meeting room. I’m going to incorporate a carving into the face of the podium and did that this morning. Gunny, Harry Brink, Gerald and 1 other 4 Quote
