Posted some of this in Monday topic and got another done today. 

These are the first two eggs. The top one I call Cracked Egg . It had cracks in it so I carved it and burned the carvings. The second was burned using a coiled wire to create the pattern. No finish on any as is pic time. 

This one I call Independence Egg. The blank is a glue up of 4 pieces of curly maple left over from the Clewes demos. Was not sure how this would look but after dye and acrylic applied turned out better than I thought.

Gerald, I am simply guessing here, but I suppose you used a skew chisel to make the basic egg shape.  What I am trying to figure out is how did you part them off.  Did you part off one end, put it into the chuck and do the remaining end?  Do you have a video?  That would be awesome to see.  Thanks for sharing.  I really do like the artwork as well.  

Those are really nice! I like the little display stands, too.

Steve it is done between centers. I did not use a skew but you could. I used mostly spindle gouge. When you turn this you leave a small nib on the end when parting off so that there is no flat on the end and then sand and carve the nib off.

Looks good Gerald. We have eggs and mushrooms, do I see an omelet in the future.

My wife brought this to my attention. On Cracked Egg this design looks like a bird on a branch. Come on stretch your imagination.

In all honesty when I first look at it I thought the same thing. Looks like a bird on a branch to me.
