I decided I'd replace my old wooden mallet.................because I can't find it. I haven't looked too hard, but I have a feeling someone borrowed it some time ago. Anyway I used some red Oak, beetle kill pine (handle) and Paduke. The handle was going to be about two inches longer, then one inch and finally where it is........because that is what was left after I made a misque.

 Would you put some material on the striking surface, hard rubber/plastic or something? I only use it with woods or softer things.

That's elegant! I'm pretty rough on these things so I don't add any padding.

Very ornate mallet. Like Lew I do not add padding because I can always turn another.

 I am used to admitting that as I age, I lose things. I lost old Mallet and as soon as showed you the new one..........I found the old one  I guess I'll use the old one and display the new one.  Stuff happens

Very nice mallet, Ron. Glad you don't have to ding it up, now. At least, if it's on display, you'll always know where it is.

AND now there is a spare or one for both ends of the shop.

I'm in the process of looking for my glasses trying to do the PC with a magnifying glass is a real PITA!

That's too purdy to use.  You should keep it on display as Gene recommended.  Of course, if you get the hankering to do another, I'll send you my home address.
