The University of British Columbia has a wonderful display of artifacts from the First Nations of the Pacific Northwest. This is a group of buildings and totem poles which have been erected in the grounds. Photo: Don Hitchcock 2012

Thanks for that last picture John.  I have seen hundreds (?) of pics of totem poles but never, I reckon, ever seen one that also had  anything else for a sense of scale.  Those things are massive!

I agree Cal, they are big, the craftsmanship and ceremony that would go into the creation of those totems, is incredibly awesome. Some of those poles were designed as warnings too, they would be erected on the shores of the Pacific, to warn travelers, "just keep on moving fellow, don't stop here".

Gotta make a trip to the VA clinic in Showlow this morning. Somehow, the system has cut off my medications. Need to get that straightened out pronto. This is the first hiccup in 20 some odd years. Hope it’s a easily remedied SNAFU.

Then, it's back to the whiskey box prototype. I'm sure glad I did this. Working out little bugs in the process now will save some cussing later on.

Finally getting started on the cane for my friend.  She is still in a wheel chair and will be for an unknown amount of time.  I want the cane will be ready when she is.

Trying to get that mitre box back together....Sunday a Grill Gazebo was assembled ( ran out of bolts half way through..)  Today was carpenter work day...grandson #1 is turning a back porch into his Man Cave....Got the entry way door installed today...

Monday...wake me up when Tuesday blows in...

Yesterday I got form in place for next slab of concrete in prep for my deck.  Today got concrete put in and tools all cleaned up, just after dark.

Not much getting done this week as my Grandson is here all week, but will be in shop while he is on Xbox. Went to church for conference with church staff on offering plates and got what I hope will be the finial on design and finish. Going to try a stain mix or wax for finish test. Then went to the HOT range with son and grandson and dang if the son didn't beat me on the showdown.
