April 4, 20197 yr Popular Post I wrote this review some years ago now. Since my website is likely to be new for many here, this set of articles (4 in all) may be of interest. It is more than about the Veritas Custom Planes, and how to design your own, but about hand plane use. April 5, 20197 yr Thanks Derek...opened the link and did quick review...will dig further in it tomorrow...about bed-time here.
April 5, 20197 yr Very comprehensive review, and easy to understand, and well done. Thanks Stick for pointing it out to me. Reinforces why I am not a hand plane guy, too much to think about when I can run the board thru a power joiner, thickness planer and drum sander. Before I had these power tools I picked my material as finished as I could, so I didn't have to break out the hand planes. I hand planed more 8'-10' hi office doors for size and bevel than I could count. I only use a block plane now for those times I need to match a joint flush, or some small thing on an assembled project, but use power tools to prep all my materials. Thats my story and I am sticking to it. Herb
