Hey Gene, after reading the article, I am surprised you didn't title your topic, "Why I don't Use Rulers"! Or any type of measuring device for that matter!

Can you imagine the amount of work it took to build it and then to restore it! IF you ever get to Baltimore MD, a tour of the USS Constellation is a must!

I didn't think you had a basement workshop? I thought everyone knew boats are built in the basement.

Only ex Marines called Gibbs do that. Ever notice there's a lack of measuring tapes in his basement shop?

Still a good investment for when Kaleeforniaye breaks off and floats away in the Pacific...you'll be a lot closer to the coast then.

I once saw a FSBO sign in AZ that read "Future Beach Property".

Our yearly normal is 26" of snow. So far this year, we've had about 36". But, we've been dumped on in March. '07, we got a 48 incher on 3/10.

I once had the idea of building a wooden boat.   I got a book from the library and decided, too many angles, curves, and strange works I did not want to mess with.

My grandfather on my dad's side was a ship builder at one point many years ago.

Oh, I have seen an episode where he has had a measuring tape, but most of the time he's sanding or planing if he's working on them.

 

Of course, his habit of using jars as glasses tends to make me wonder about how it affects the taste...

This business about boats woke up a brain cell and i was trying to recall who started that model boat and "shipped" if off to someone else for finishing.   Someone with two cells to rub together help me out here.
