I'll have to dig my relic out. Probably from the late 50's or early 60's. Many years ago, a retired woodworker gave it to me at his selling out garage sale because I knew what it was and how it was used. It's fixed vs adjustable. Solid chunk of steel.

I have the HF pocket hole jig, and it is one of thode gems that HF has I got mine for around $39. with coupons they have periodically. It is all metal and well built.

I got the recipe for the stain from one of my antique firearm forums. It is a stain from the 1700s that some English gunsmith's used.

 

Alkanet Root Stain

1 part     Alkanet root powder.

1 part.    Turpentine 

2 parts.  BLO

Mix ingredients together and place container in a dark place. If stain is not put in a dark place it will darken too much. Wait 6-9 months and the stain is ready to use.  

The Sharps is a Italian copy that I purchased used from Gunbroker.

Right nice case. Great English fit for the rifle. The grain on the lid is just awesome. 

Great job on that rifle case.  Simple yet elegant, just like the rifle.  +1 to the comments about the lid grain orientation.
