January 26, 20197 yr Popular Post Here are a couple of pics of a storage cabinet I built for the wife. She found one of my WWing mags and made the "request" (Ha!) w/o the attendant "please". Who am I to resist SWMBO? I did garner a few points for it, though. hat
January 26, 20197 yr Popular Post Art cabinet heck, thats also a beautiful tool cabinet!!!! Beautiful work Hat!
January 26, 20197 yr Great looking piece. Have to agree with Dan, love the matching grain. Well thought out.
January 26, 20197 yr Author Popular Post Many thanks to everyone for looking. Matching grain is fairly easy to do by laying out the drawer fronts on your stock before cutting. This lets me group them together to get a better "feel" for how it will look. I need all the help I can get! hat
January 27, 20197 yr Super nice - and looks very useful to boot. I really like the color. Do you recall the dye/stain you used and your finishing schedule?
January 27, 20197 yr That's one sweet cabinet. Unique use of bow ties. Gorgeous finish. The grain matching is really great.

You know, like the old S&H Green stamps.. Beautiful piece of work. The grain is outstanding with both your layout and the stain color. I have to agree with John, that would be an awesome tool cabinet too, but your favorable rating might take a big hit. Thanks for sharing your work.

Hello Cal I wiped on one coat of boiled linseed oil to give it a warm color and enhance the figure a little bit. After the BLO had cured, I wiped on 2-3 coats (can't remember ) of a dark garnet shellac (1 lb. cut) to seal the BLO and add depth, than wiped on 2 coats of Pratt&Lambert 38 alkyd varnish. hat
January 27, 20197 yr Either SWMBO is also talented with her hands, or it looks like you have some supplies stored in there too. Would the vases (?) on top be the work of the Missus? A beautiful looking piece.
January 27, 20197 yr Author Popular Post Hello Grandpa and Artie Yes, I do WWing to support her gourd art hobby, so, if I need a tool, no problemo! I cut round holes in the gourds at the drill press and make display stands. I also do all the slave work getting her set up at the shows. I'm up to $0.05/hour now!! The gourds on the top are hers. She has won a couple of awards at various shows.None of the stuff in the cabinet is mine, including the Dremel she "borrowed" from me years ago. I am barely permitted in the studio. hat Edited January 27, 20197 yr by hatuffej
