Now to put some leather inside to make the grip better and ease the wood maring.

Hadn't thought of that.  Thanks, have to look through my collection and see what I have.

That's a great idea.  I have a thick piece of leather here somewhere and never thought to use it for the jaws.  Going to hunt it down and put it to use.

Awesome job WbbN. Your mind to maximize your work never rests does it?:P

Great idea to pair them up. If your extension table will allow it, add some dog holes for extra versatility.

Good deal on the purchase too. Thanks for sharing.

Would love to but my extension table is the solid cast iron tops of both Delta saws.  Take a look. First pic is opposite side of clamps. Just behind fence are the new clamps as in picture 2.  The extensions are deceiving, they hide a drawer under the saw motors that collects the dust.   So the tops have to be removed for any work as well as anytime I cut above 40 degree angle.  The motor extends above the line of the table at 45 degrees.  A common issue with contractor saws but hey we work with what we have.

Gotcha'...well they still will be an added benefit as stands, plus you've got the TS of TS's so minor trade-off.

"Irwin clamps were on sale for $20 at Lowe's.  One box was open the saleswoman tells me stuff is missing and marked it down to $5.  Later when I got home I discovered the cashier didn't even ring it up.  Made out like a bandit!  Maybe not the greatest clamps in the world but will do."

So, are you going to go back to the store and offer to pay for it? It was already marked down 75%, don't tell me that you can't afford $5

By the way lets call them bench vises instead of clamps. Clamps are portable and most bench vises are not
