Its hard to stay up with her when she is feeling good.! 60-40 solder when we moved here in 99 was 3.95 each if you bought 12 rolls at a time. Now its 18.95 but don't think she has gone up in her charges near that much. I'm using used 2x4"s for the bases that came from my cocatiel bird house. This one is going to Houston.

The Mrs. does beautiful work and not bad on the bases either!

 

When I started working in electronics, 60/40 solder was the only type we had. Now the stuff we are forced to used is terrible. Melting temps have changed and very brittle. No wonder there are so many computer problems now days.

These are magnificent works of art Patch. You both are very talented, creative and with lots of patience. 

My dad did stained glass so I know the huge amount of work your wife put into this project.  Kudos to her.  Your bases have enhanced her work so I say kudos to you also.

I am curious how do you glue lead to wood.  Poly or Expoxy?

A word of caution on the solder. 

Please work with a vented hood or respirator.

What off gasses is not good for Humans or any mamal that I know of.

While in the gas state it can be in haled leading to health issues if you work with it often.

Michael I cut slots in the wood then close up each end so the pine won't close up and cause problems in high humidity or not. Makes the set easier to store till needed again.

 

  This is after is started rubbing them out . The three on the right have a smoother finish after I get through with them.

  Oh the fumes, I put a large exhaust in one end a a big blower in the other end..you have to hold your hat on inside her shop, a 53 foot refrigerated semi trailer.

 

 Since the pictures were taken we underpinned it  and added a few more things. She went from a 7x20 foot area in my shop to this and it made her real happy.  A tread mill in one end with all kinds of storage for the glass.. This was the best solution for a very good insulated work shop for less than 2500 set down on the property/
