Thanks Herb for the update. Those appear much thinner than I expected which is a good thing.

I assume the thickness is minimal so it will be a non-issue for slightly tilting/rocking the material??

I've use pink duct tape on a jig for rolling pins. I don't think it works as well as what this product would but it sure makes it easier to see layout lines.

I mic it as .53mm, not sure what that works out in inches, I will let you math guys figure that out..

Maybe,  Cut the tape to the length of the insert.  Then with an indicator level the tape to the table.

@Dadio, you convinced me. Thanks.

Because I make my on inserts and, because I like to play, I might make an insert with a dado to fit the tape.

You have to note that on the TS the point of the miter is laying flat on the table, and on the miter saw it is on edge. So the 1/64 effects the vertical cut on the miter saw,and that may be different than what I show. In that case other pieces of tape might be required on the miter saw table on both aides of the blade.

That is a good idea of making a dado to replace the strips.

Just saying,

There's no problem with the tape on my Bosch Miter Saw">SCMS as the insert sets ever so slightly lower in the miter arm and table assy. So the tape on the factory insert actually is about the same height as the surrounding metal.  For the ZCI in the TS, a recess in it for the tape would solve two (imaginary?) problems. First, there would be no worries about differing levels causing a bad fitting joint and second, no worries about catching the tape on the leading edge/end of a board being ripped.

Since I make my ZCIs to accept a replaceable strip, planing it to accept the tape would be no problem. The tape would be much easier to replace than that strip of wood.

When I had my old Craftman TS, I made a ZCI that had a 1 1/2" wide recess with a sliding dovetail edges where the blade cut through. Then made up a handful of inserts to slide in and out as needed. It required some work to make , but it lasted a long time.
