Glue for Acrylic

Featured Replies

What is the best glue to use to glue acrylic to wood? Some of the clear acrylic shows any flaws the glue may create.

I used CA glue, to glue the lenses of my 7-day clocks to the edges, a little squeezed out here and there and didn't show when it dried.

I have used this.  It is epoxy for plastic but bonds to wood fine too.

I have used both products for years and each has great holding strength and limited use. Epoxy will weaken if heated, such as sanding on a lathe. CA is sometimes a mystery to me. I've tried it on jewelry, metal, wood, etc. The only sure thing about it is that it will ALWAYS glue your fingers to themselves or other objects. Sometimes it just plain don't work. After a period of time it dries up and the tube/container frozen in place. Yes, I still use both, but now know how to use each.

Has anyone tried plastic body filler? It can be colored too.

No, but I have used body glaze from a tube as filler  on wood I am going to paint. It sands smooth and drys fast, gives a super smooth surface.

I have had the same experience as Ron with CA glue until I bought a spray can of accelerator now I get a good fast set on the glue, wear rubber gloves.
