October 26, 20187 yr Popular Post comment_164070 I made two apple bowls. This is the smaller one. It is around six inches in diameter. I put a wax finish on it. The larger bowl I put a polyurethane finish and will post a picture of it when it dries. It looks like I could have done more sanding now that the wax finish is on. Report

For what I know, I think that's sometime the characteristics with fruit woods. Looks great to me! Wonder what vanilla bean ice-cream tastes like served in an apple bowl? Report

I'm sure there is but I have not figured it out as yet. With that said, it's seldom that I get apple to turn. The last was a few years ago and I did not have good success with it at all. I believe if I ever get more I will turn it natural edge, turn it to finish wet and as thin as possible. Thinner usually means less cracking. Steve Report
