September 21, 20187 yr comment_160462 I don't know if this belongs here but it is about turning. I am finishing a piece (colored ply) and it has tiny tare out holes. What finish would you use to fill them? (or tiny cracks) I normally use HUT friction finish. Thanks Report
September 21, 20187 yr comment_160468 Tear out should be turned and or sanded correctly to remove it. Light cuts with a freshly sharpened tool and then sand. Filling tear out leaves it looking like. . . you got it. . . filled tear out. Report

September 21, 20187 yr comment_160487 Just don't go across grain and you can do about anything to make it look like it was a planned process.. Show us what you have come up against for your question. Report
September 21, 20187 yr Author comment_160497 I chose to cut cross grain to achieve the look I wanted with colored ply & with sharp tools. The tiny holes are not serious, however I'd like them to be filled. I know that if I apply multiple coats of finish, it will be smooth and invisible as I want. I just wanted to know what finish works best with the fewest applications. The question is "What finish would you use to fill them?" Report
September 21, 20187 yr comment_160502 How about CA in the holes, then finish with your finish of choice. Report
