September 3, 20187 yr Popular Post Bought a small grill this Spring and been meaning to build a table for it to sit on. Have a friend who builds decks and he gives me some composite deck material if he gets too much laying around his place so the material for this project was free. The legs are made from railing stock. The cross braces are milled from a deck board and the flat surfaces are made from fascia material. The railing material is pretty rough and requires quite a bit of sawing and planing to get them to a usable state for making furniture. The table top is 42"X20" and stands 32" tall. After all the sawing and planing I had almost 10 gallons of debris. Here is the frame screwed together. My design has no visible fasteners from the top. I used all stainless fasteners and the aluminum cross pieces are to screw the surface material to the table from below. Didn't care for the legs and their height on the grill so I did some heat testing and made some shorter aluminum legs to my liking. Here are a couple small tables I made about 10 years ago. Wash them off each Spring and they hold up well. Put new chains on the swing I made about 12 years ago and used stainless chain since the galvanized rusted badly even though it is under roof.
September 3, 20187 yr you really are Handy, Dan... very nice... like your execution, a lot... where's the dining table and chairs/benches to go w/ it??? Edited September 3, 20187 yr by Stick486
September 3, 20187 yr Very nice Dan. Is the swing also made from the decking material? Is this the plastic type stuff they sell? Do you know if it will hold paint?
September 3, 20187 yr Nicely done both the table and the grill redesign. I've never seen a small gas grill of that heft, quality and style before. Where did you get it?

It is the plastic stuff. I don't believe it will hold paint or glue. 1 hour ago, Fred W. Hargis Jr said: I'm loving it, that's the right size grill for me...I'll have to find one. Fred, it is a Members Mark portable grill from Sam's Club. The dimensions are 21"wide X 17"deep and with my leg modification it is 14"tall. Used to be 17"tall. It is the perfect size for me. Made myself a blue cheese burger yesterday evening and it worked very well. Plenty of heat even with using just one of the two available burners. Seems to be very well made too.
September 3, 20187 yr Mighty fine looking Dan. Maybe you aught to start furniture building someday. We don't barbecue outside with wood I use an electric set up and I always lay pieces of mesquite on the grill to smoke as the meat is cooking. Gotta have that wood flavor... I know I can't beat Sadlers brand from Sam's but I try.
September 4, 20187 yr That is a nice piece. Adding the Aluminum strips is a great idea for longevity .
