If you are talking about these black clamps.IMG_8683.JPG.f0132602e0411fdf43535cd6b804e99a.JPG

I might have 100 of the large size in my shop. Another use is when I resaw something like a 3/4" 1x6 hardwood for my scroll sawing I need and use 1/4, 5/16 and 3/8" thick hardwood . I found after I resaw these boards I need to clamp the two pieces back together with  or without a sticker board inbetween them for a long time and checking and swaping sides ever so often or else I get all kinds of warped wood..  Even being kiln dried and have owned these boards for a number of years they will still warp because only one side of a board has been opened up to fresh air where the  original outside of the board has not been touched for I split the wood right down the middle causing big time problems. I hardly ever have them clamping anything wider than 2" and it sure saves having to buy the thin hardwood which they price about the same as 3/4" wide stuff...IMG_0961.thumb.JPG.19f8ecc655b270d734168ef5c5fd749d.JPG

My 30 x 62 foot shop in full of these clamped up resaws....I've had these large size clamps 30 years or so.  So I'm thinking you might get some backwash from guys who don't do how to use them????

These clamps and the Vise Grip 22" clamps are the very most important clamps in my shop.....

I agree if you mean the squeeze camps like the Irwins, junk. I have not any alternate use for them.

Jesse, those clamps are great. But, that pink/orange??? pad seems to break easily. Maybe, I'm to rough.

Yes I know Herb is a HF man--the store does have it's place. Sorta like kindergarten---- you  learn & then progress onward & upward

Yes I saw the previous posts but didn't recall if there was an attempt to recycle/up cycle them. Just that the clamps weren't worth the trip to the store (to be polite).

So I guess I'll put them out to pasture & make some room on the rack.

Yep, I do not recommend those.I did the same tossed them, some had grey pads, others had orange pads. The pads don't fit the Irwins. I wait til the Irwins are on sale and buy them.

If you're into making your own lathe tool rests the bar is hard enough to weld on top of the rest for the tools to rest/slide on.

or

Hang a broken one on the wall with a reminder note not to buy more.

Need to give that some thought. Have you tried heating & bending it for a rest for a bowl?

Yup, they are hand pinchers too, right between the thumb and forefinger.

No extra charge for that added feature..others don't even think to include that.

The HF I have are great for holding pieces together, not clamping. The smaller ones have a plastic pivot inside that is weak and will come apart if you apply much pressure. I have a set of Irwin and a set of Besse........They are my first choice.
