Grandpadave52 Posted July 30, 2018 Report Posted July 30, 2018 (edited) Lot's of walks with the new fur-kid over the weekend. Took my step-father to the 38th (and may be final) Tippecanoe Steam & Gas Power Show Saturday. Pics later. Pre-school activities week started today; Oldest grand-daughter to football (4th year team manager) at 7 A to begin her Senior H.S. year. Youngest grand-daughter for all day volleyball practice at 9. That schedule holds for the remainder of the week. Just came in from a 1/2 hour walk in the rain with the fur-kid. She's in the outside kennel now. Picking up my step-father at 10:30 A for monthly eye doctor appointment and injection #138...lunch afterwards. Dr. appointment & lab work for me mid-week. Lot's of walks with the fur-kid in between. Once the rain ends Tuesday or Wednesday, mowing will resume. Any other non-allocated time TBD Edited July 30, 2018 by Grandpadave52 John Morris, steven newman and p_toad 3 Quote
Gene Howe Posted July 30, 2018 Report Posted July 30, 2018 Honey dos all weekend and continuing today and, likely manana, as well. Working my way through the accumulated pile of "round toits". Hopefully, shop time by Wednesday. John Morris, HARO50 and p_toad 2 1 Quote
Ron Dudelston Posted July 30, 2018 Report Posted July 30, 2018 Resting after a very hectic weekend. I need to straighten up my stock totes from Saturday’s show, also. The show gave me two jobs.....a mantle and an oak cabinet so I need to get those quoted. Thursday is Route 127 yard day. 127 is the longest yard sale in the world. We’ll pick it up at Celina Ohio. Popular Post DuckSoup Posted July 30, 2018 Popular Post Report Posted July 30, 2018 Finished the fire suppression job I was on for the last, long, 10 months. Going to take the month of August off and see what comes my way after that. Clean the shop and see where I left off. Inching closer to that retirement. DAB Posted July 30, 2018 Report Posted July 30, 2018 today so far: filled water day tank in the house from the shop cistern (about 170 gallons), watered the gardens (more rainwater from cisterns), killed some weeds (roundup). still to go: dig some dirt out and back fill with some base course near the back step next to the patio drain; goal is to keep the mud out of the drain. Take lots of water and comfortable shoes. Lots of in/out of vehicle and walking. Supposed to be hot so keep a close eye for the Lemon Shake-up vendors...can't do the 127 without one good Shake-up. PostalTom Posted July 31, 2018 Report Posted July 31, 2018 Several years ago, I built a box joint jig from a set of plans in Shop Notes. I tried it a couple of time, never could get the spacing right on the pins and slots. This past weekend, I decided I would figure it out, or throw it out. I have recently bought a 7 piece PSI drive center set from our local tool store. This is the set: https://www.pennstateind.com/store/LCENTSET.html. The hardware looks good, haven't tried it yet, but the box it came in was a mess. Flimsy construction, and the bottom had split and was repaired with masking tape. This gave me the inspiration to try to make a new box using that jig. Came out OK for a first effort. I will post some pics once I get it all done. Still working on the top, need to make an insert to hold the various pieces, and have to apply some finish. Made out of poplar, so I probably won't be too picky with the finish. I also received an invitation from a member of our woodturning club to teach me how to turn lidded boxes. I am looking forward to that. As usual I have the normal plethora of doctor's appointments to take my wife to. She has developed a problem with her peripheral vision, so she is grounded from driving for now. So that's my upcoming week. Quote

steven newman Posted July 31, 2018 Report Posted July 31, 2018 Uuuummmm..... Do I have to? Last night, tried the "new & improved" bandsaw.....resaw a bit of Ash into thinner 1 x 3s......like 3/8". Motor was having "issues" having to actually work....until I said something about it could be replaced......started right, and made a few more pieces. Maybe today, I can do a bit of box making.....
