July 1, 20188 yr Popular Post Spent all day yesterday with my son, looking for old handsaws (another story entirely). A couple of Kijiji contacts, three permanent-type yard sales, and a very large Re-Store. He found plenty, but I only saw one thing that interested me. I used one of these when I started in woodworking (around the age of four). The tensioning doodad was missing, and this one will be altered to look a little better. John
July 1, 20188 yr That is a good find,John,a Marples yet. How is the blade? Are replacement blades still available for those saws? Herb
July 2, 20188 yr Author It shows no sign of wear, and the blade is still sharp. I'll have to see if I can find blades. I've heard you can make blades from bandsaw blades... Might be worth a try. John
July 2, 20188 yr Highland also has a British bow saw blade. https://www.highlandwoodworking.com/british-bow-saw-blade.aspx

REALLY? Bow saw blades? Better not order THOSE!!! Thanks, guys. The ones Highland sells are 12", my blade is 10" overall, with 8" of teeth. Could probably figure out a way to shorten them and drill the 1/16" hole. Or wait until Fall, when a friend of mine goes back to England to do some research, and see if he can find any there. John
